2007 May Elections for Astley Village Parish Council 2007 Results of Astley Village Parish Council elections are:
Local Elections will be held on 3 May 2007 and will include the election of all the Parish Councillor seats along with one of the two Borough Councillor seats for Astley & Buckshaw. The Parish Council is made up of 10 Parish councillors whose terms of office expires to make way for the elections on the 3 May. The Notice of Election will be displayed not later than the 27 March 2007 in the Parish noticeboards and nominations for Parish Councillors must be received by noon on the 4 April 2007. If you would like more information about being a Parish Councillor and/or to obtain an application pack you can contact the Clerk of the Council who will have packs available, otherwise you can be pick them up from Chorley Borough Council offices. Casual Vacancies for Astley Village Parish Councillor Any seats which become vacant through resignation, disqualification or death are called casual vacancies and can be filled by the Council, this is known as co-option. If you are interested in serving as a Councillor you should write to the Clerk giving details of interests, experience and reasons for wishing to serve. 2007 May Elections for Astley Village Parish Council 2007 elections will include 18 to 21 year olds in the process. Following the amendments of the Electoral Administration Act 2006, which came into force on the 1 January 2007 the age restriction to be a Councillor in Local Government has been lowered from 21 to 18 years. This now means that Council's may attract and benefit from having some younger members of their electoral region on the Council and, younger members of the village have their chance to shape and influence matters in their own area.
